I have a Caldari alt called Li Ran. Li is eventually going to be an Industrialist, but is starting from humble beginnings as a miner.

Having grown frustrated with the appaling tax levies made on me for reprocessing ore at my home station, I decided I really needed to beef up Li's standings with the local NPC corp - and more than just fleeting him into Vestik's missions.

To that end, I went out and bought Li (who normally mines peacably in an Osprey), his first offensive ship - the Caldari, Caracal-class Cruiser. Then, having researched the optimum fitting based on my skills, I spent a good amount of time running around the surounding systems buying the modules I needed at the best prices.
